About
Dr Georgia Fleet and Carla Southworth founded Zonova in 2023. It develops broad-spectrum antimicrobial technology built into medical devices to prevent the infections they can cause. Fleet began the work as a UCL PhD student after a critical care doctor described patients dying from device infections, and spent five years developing an antimicrobial breathing tube.
Zonova now licenses its technology, which is being piloted in three UK veterinary referral hospitals, and is in talks with large device manufacturers in urology, wound care and orthopaedics. Fleet won the Innovate UK Women in Innovation Award for 2024/25.
