Michael Hart, André Saavedra Pinto and Luchesar Cekov founded Teal in London in 2023. With the borrower's permission, Teal connects to payroll, HR and tax systems so lenders get real-time, verified income and employment data, and it aims to become the UK's default income API.

Teal raised £1.4m in pre-seed funding from Passion Capital, ACF Investors and K Fund, with angels from Plaid and Checkout. Its product has launched with its first UK client.
