Richard Robinson, a lawyer at a large City of London firm tired of hours of admin, founded Robin AI in 2019 with his university friend Dr James Clough. Robin AI uses AI to review contracts and to find information across a company's contract library, for law firms and in-house legal teams.

Clough built its language model on more than two million non-public legal contracts, and in a demonstration it cut contract review time by 85%. Robin AI raised a $10.5m Series A and then $26m in new funding in 2024, and opened an office in Singapore.
