PulpaTronics: metal-free paper RFID tags
Chloe So and Barna Soma Biro founded PulpaTronics in 2023; it began as their final-year master’s project. The company makes metal-free RFID tags by using a laser to cut a conductive circuit straight onto paper, so the tags are non-toxic and can be recycled with paper. It says they cut CO₂ emissions by 60% and cost by 30%.
PulpaTronics was one of ten winners of the H&M Foundation’s Global Change Award in 2025, won at the SME Business Elite Awards, and was named on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Manufacturing and Industry list. It rose from 48th to 14th on the Startups 100 Index.
