Anthony Jacob founded Nila in 2024 after struggling to manage his own parents' care in India from overseas. Nila connects Indians living in the UK and US with professional care managers who look after their elderly relatives, with real-time updates in the app and 24/7 help in emergencies.

In October 2025 Nila raised $2.4m in pre-seed funding led by LocalGlobe, with Redbus Ventures and angels linked to Revolut, Nala and Wise. It has more than 120 care managers in over 10 Indian cities.
