Lucie Macleod founded Hair Syrup in 2020 after struggling with damaged hair in her final year at university and finding treatments too expensive or ineffective. The brand sells affordable natural oils and treatments for everyday problems such as tangles, dryness, dandruff and oily scalps.
Her first TikTok video passed 500,000 views and turned a side hustle into a business; turnover has grown from £120,000 in 2022 to £5m. Macleod left BBC Dragons' Den without an investment, and the brand went on to partner with Boots and Superdrug.
Number 30 on the Startups 100 Index 2026.
