Carmoola: car finance in an app, with a virtual card to buy the car

  • Founded 2020
  • £300m debt facility
  • Almost £150m of cars funded

About

Aidan Rushby, Amy Rushby, Roman Sumnikov and Igor Gordiichuk founded Carmoola in 2020. It is app-based car finance: customers set a budget, get approved, and receive a virtual card in the app loaded with their loan, which they can use on online car-buying sites and at thousands of dealerships.

The founders were drawn to used-car ecommerce platforms but felt they were missing key parts. Carmoola began raising its Series A three months after launch and has since secured a £300m asset-backed debt facility with NatWest and Chenavari Investment Managers. It says it has funded almost £150m worth of cars.

Number 17 on the Startups 100 Index 2026.
