Elin Roberts, Dr Ando Ahnan-Winarno, Fabio Rinaldo and Christopher Kong founded Better Nature in 2020. It makes high-protein tempeh, a fermented soybean food, and teaches British cooks how to use it. Ahnan-Winarno grew up eating tempeh in Indonesia and studied its health benefits as a food scientist.

Better Nature is stocked by Tesco, Asda and Ocado and is funded by angel investors and venture capital, most recently with a £1.1m round in August 2025.
